So, what is there to do in the Bath area?

A huge amount! For centuries, Bath has been famous as a tourist city with street music, the Abbey, fine architecture and museums. Now of course, to great acclaim, the new Bath Spa is open; in fact there's something for everyone to do and see. Bristol also boasts waterside cafes, boat rides, SS Great Britain and an amazing maritime history captured in stunning museums. Now look at the list below; you'll not run out of things to do that's for sure!

Bath Shopping. - Bath's the place to shop. All the big names are in Bath but many people come to Bath for the fascinating little shops that the city's famous for.

Cheddar Caves and Gorge. - A place of wild and rugged beauty. It's Britain's biggest Gorge and of course everyone knows that dragons live in caves!

A champagne Hot Air Balloon Flight. - A one hour flight from the Royal Victoria Park in Bath. Ballooning is weather dependant but it's well worth attempting it. The whole launch, flight and landing experience takes about 3 to 4 hours.

Clarks Village Outlet Shopping - All the famous brands at bargin prices - about 30 mins drive from here.

SS Great Britain - Brunel's great iron ship. The world's first ocean liner, back home in Bristol's rejuvenated harbourside. There's so much to see around the harbourside besides this great Lady!

The Roman Baths - The Roman Baths and Pumproom that made Bath so famous. An essential visit!

Mad Max Tours - Do the Stonehenge & Avebury stone circles, Lacock and Castle Combe villages all in one day and let someone else do the driving!

The National Trust - Tyntesfield, Stourhead, Prior Park & Montacute House all nearby.

Home of the Sally Lunn Bun! - The oldest house in Bath (1482), a must for morning coffee & afternoon tea - make an excuse to eat a Sally Lunn bun!

Bath Bus Tour. - A comprehensive hop-on/hop-off bus tour of Bath in conjunction with the National Trust, with expert guided commentary.

Fleet Air Arm Museum. - Europe's largest collection of naval aircraft, as well as Concorde and even a nuclear bomb! (Please don't bring one back with you!)

The Wookey Hole Caves - The famous Wookey Hole Caves and Papermill, under the Mendip Hills, near the city of Wells and towards Clarks Village.

Longleat House and Safari Park. - Get lost in the Longleat Hedge Maze, voyage on the Safari Boats, journey on the Longleat Railway; the lions, tigers, wolves, rhinos and much much more.

The Bizarre Bath Comedy Walk. - Bizarre Bath leaves the Huntsman Inn, North Parade Passage, every evening at 8pm. The walk comes very highly recommended! It's an experience nearly impossible to describe but a 'must do' Bath event!

The British Empire and Commonwealth Museum. - Bristol's award winning new national museum dedicated to Britain's 500 year colonial history. A vivid record to the end of an empire.

The Mayor's Guides FREE Walking Tours - Depart Bath's Abbey Churchyard, Monday - Sunday 10.30 and Sunday - Friday 14.00 all year. Additionally tours run May - September on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 19.00. The tour, which lasts around 2 hours, is a general historical and architectural introduction to Bath.
